The 2023 Christmas Song Bracket is Coming Soon....

Greetings all,

We are once again ready to take up the torch of Holiday Music Democracy.  The decorations are in the stores.  The sale emails are in your inbox.  The music is on the radio.  It is time once again for the Christmas Song Bracket Tournament, where YOU the people decide once and for all time  until next year, what is truly the greatest Christmas song.

This will be the third installment.  A quick look at the short history of December Madness:

2020 - Champion: "Sleigh Ride"
2021 - Tournament cancelled due to cancer
            (FU cancer, you suck!)
2022 - Champion: "Carol of the Bells"

As a refresher, here's how it works:
  • In the coming days we will post a link to a Google Form with all the first round matchups.  Simply select your choice in each head-to-head.  Use whatever criteria is most important to you - best lyrics, best music, best vibes, best time signature (where my 6/8 peeps at?), best potential for a gratuitous Picardy third, nostalgia, comfort, whatever.  Vote with your heart and your mind.  Hell, vote with your feet for all I care.  Just VOTE!
  • Every 5 days or so, we will announce the winners of the previous round, perhaps provide a little commentary on the results, and provide a link for the next round's form.
  • The final champion will be announced on Christmas Eve - this year, live from Santa Fe, where the chile is Christmas too (if you know, you know).  That's right, the Christmas Bracket Crew is taking the tournament on the road in 2023.
In addition to voting, you have a very important role to play in this process:  Spread the word!  Forward this site to anyone who you think might enjoy participating.  Subscribe to receive updates.  I won't do anything with your info - I don't care about it and I wouldn't know how if I wanted to.

And remember, if you are forwarding this info to others, you need to keep doing it every round!

Happy Holidays, and may the best song win!
